Dear parents,

For the last few months I have been exploring various options regarding the ESF German Primary project.
With the parents’ led group model in mind (for the reasons previously outlined in our discussions), I would like to propose the following project.
Mrs. Willsher, an experienced German primary teacher from GSIS has agreed to conduct a three hours workshop for parents who wish to take part of the German mother tongue project. She will then act as an external consultant for guidance purposes.
My view is that Mrs. Willsher should design the workshop around the use of strategies for supporting literacy development in mother tongue, including:
1. strategies for developing reading skills.
2. the role of talking in developing literacy skills
3. effective language learning; the link between talking, reading and writing
4. introduction to the books and resources we are proposing using.
We will run the workshop on either the 17th or the 24th of May, from 9.00am to 11.30am. Please will you reply to me which one of these two dates suit you better, and we will focus on what is best for the majority of respondents.
